Pellikaan Timing, founded in 2008 by Hubert Pellikaan, is one of the most interesting Dutch microbrands. With a focus on legibility, timeless design, and precision, they now introduce the Athena. With a diameter of 35mm, it is suitable for both men and women (starting at €490) and offers a certain refinement without losing Pellikaan’s characteristic clean look. The stainless steel case with sapphire crystal and a water resistance rating of 5 ATM houses a Swiss ETA quartz movement with thermocompensation. The latter is a technology that automatically corrects timekeeping accuracy for temperature fluctuations. In practice, according to Pellikaan, the movement exceeds the strict COSC standards for quartz and deviates by less than 10 seconds per year under normal conditions. This makes the Athena one of the most accurate wearable timepieces available.

“The Athena was born from the desire to design a watch that doesn’t think in categories,” says designer Bas Pellikaan. “It had to be elegant without becoming frumpy, powerful without appearing bulky, and above all: clear and comfortable to use.”
